Ingredients to make Chocolate Torrijas:
How to make Chocolate Torrijas:
Pour the liter of milk into a saucepan, add the cinnamon sticks and the sugar. Heat over medium heat to infuse and turn it off when it starts to boil. Since chocolate and orange are flavors that go together perfectly, you can also make chocolate and orange French toast by adding pieces of orange peel to the saucepan.
Trick: To give it a touch, you can add tablespoons of cocoa powder to taste or some pieces of chocolate to melt.
Place the infused milk in a large bowl and let it cool. When it’s warm introduce the slices of bread without crowding them, leave them for 5-10 minutes and turn them so that they soak well.
Put the chopped chocolate in a bowl, add the tablespoons of milk and heat it in the microwave for 1 minute at full power. Take it out and mix so that it melts well. If necessary, heat it for a few more seconds. In this video we show you step by step how to melt chocolate:
Put a frying pan over medium heat with plenty of oil to fry. Beat the eggs on a plate and, when the oil is hot, pass the torrijas through the beaten egg. Be very careful because at this point the torrijas will be very tender and can break.
Place the torrijas in the hot oil and fry them on both sides until golden brown. As they are done, remove them and reserve them on a plate with kitchen paper to absorb the excess oil.
Trick: If you prefer to bake the chocolate toast, place the toast on a tray lined with greaseproof paper and bake at 180ºC for 15-20 minutes, turning them over halfway through cooking.
Mix the sugar and cinnamon powder in another plate and pass the torrijas through this preparation. Another option to make your chocolate french toast more flavor is to add cocoa powder to the mix.
Put the torrijas in the melted chocolate, but only halfway through. You can use a spoon to keep it from sinking all the way. Of course, if you prefer, you can also make the torrijas dipped in chocolate completely.
Have a source with greaseproof paper prepared and place the toast with chocolate in it. Once they are all done, put the fountain in the fridge and leave it for a couple of hours or until the chocolate has hardened.
When you take them out, you will see that they will detach well from the paper. Now you can serve them!
