Cheap Cost, Boiled, Traditional Bolivian Recipe
Ingredients to make Majadito:
How to make Majadito:
Put to boil the jerky in a pot with water until tender. For those who are unfamiliar with this product, jerky, also known as jerky, is generally dehydrated beef. It can be substituted for chicken, duck, turkey … The jerky is widely used in the Andean area of all South America and began as a way to preserve meat for long periods of time. Currently, it is used for all kinds of preparations, such as tamales, stews, empanadas …
When the jerk is done, strain the meat and reserve the liquid for later. Fray the jerky and skip it in a frying pan with a little hot oil.
Cut all the vegetables in small cubes.
In a pot, add a little oil and sauté the vegetables chopped when hot. First add the garlic and onion and then, when the onion is transparent, add the peppers. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Trick: The traditional majadito is usually orange in color, which is obtained by sautéing urucú (achiote) seeds. If you use them, you should sauté them first and remove them to sauté the vegetables.
When the vegetables are all tender, add the rice and sauté it a few minutes. In this way, the majadito is much tastier.
Pour the water that you had reserved for cooking the jerky. In general, to cook rice correctly you must add two parts of water to each part of rice.
Trick: If you do not have enough water from cooking the jerky, you can add a little broth or water.
Let the ingredients integrate a little and, immediately afterwards, add the jerky. Mix and let the jerky meat cook for approximately 18 minutes. After this time, cover the pot and leave it for 2 more minutes on the fire so that the rice absorbs the liquid and all the flavors are integrated.
While the rice is cooking, prepare the other part of the majadito, the banana. For it, peel the bananas, cut them in half lengthwise and cook them fried in a frying pan with very hot oil. You can also grill them, but they should be very golden.
To assemble the plate, place the rice with the jerky and vegetables on the base, place a half of a banana on each side and, on top, a fried egg. Clever!
