To start with this recipe for mashed potatoes, put a pot to cook with water, go peeling the potatoes and garlic cloves.
When the water starts to boil, add the potatoes cut into quarters, the chopped garlic cloves, the bay leaf and the salt. Part of this salt is reserved to add to the fresh bacon if needed. Cook for half an hour. Cut the fresh bacon into thick strips.
